I have worked with youth for the past 30 years.  Each time I enter a room full of teens, I scan the room to look, not for vocalization, but for the silent cues that indicate the mood of the individuals in the room as well as the overall mood of the room.  Over the years, I have learned that, with a glance, I can tell who will be easy to engage, who will be reluctant to engage, and who will try to run the show.
